Coach Tony will be entering his 4th year with the BBGC football
program this season. He began coaching flag football with
Coach Jason Reynolds in 2005, and has remained with that staff
through last seasons championship run at the Cubs National
level, a team considered overachievers by some
that fell 2 points short in the CBL championship game at Georgetown
Prep, but proved to the Bulldog faithful that there were champions
wearing Orange and Black! This will be his first season as
head coach, but his unwavering coaching priorities will follow,
The KIDS come FIRST sits atop that list. Coach
Tony has focused on all three sides of the ball
while playing and coaching: Offens e, Defense, and Special
Teams, and he believes that all three facets of the game must
be taught in order to fully develop and prepare each player
for a fulfilling career in this wonderful game of football.
He played youth football in the Jabbo-Kenner league for the
Lamond Riggs Steelers under Coach Tony Hill, then at the High
School level in the Interhigh/DCIAA for the Wilson Tigers
under Coach Horace Fleming during their last championship
season.
Building great human beings has been a goal shared
amongst this football staff since they got things going back
in 2005, and this will be the case with the 2008 Cubs Nationals.
We have our kids on the field for between 7 and 12 hours per
week, and we dont restrict the coaching to just sports,
but we strive to teach teamwork, sportsmanship, the importance
of education, respect for yourself and others, and other life
lessons while under those lights. These are the times our
kids build memories, and we work to make sure those memories
will impact their lives both on and off the field.
Coach Tony also coaches Baseball and Basketball for BBGC
and says that seeing each and every child develop throughout
each season and the next while learning the fundamentals of
the game keeps him looking forward to the next sport. Each
child will be pushed to improve from day one: Good
Better Best; dont let it rest, until your Good
is your Better, and your Better is your Best has been
a motto shared amongst his teams. He has 2 sons currently
in the program and a daughter that is on her way to wearing
the orange and black; but he treats each and every child on
his team no differently than one of his own, and would have
it no other way.
